GLOSSARY
A contractor manages the construction of a building, which the architect designs. They are needed to actually execute the vision, and are often the ones who hire subcontractors and construction workers to build the project. They work in tandem with the architect to finish the project with few issues.
A term which refers to organizations contracted as part of the delivery of a built asset. Suppliers might have been considered to be organizations contracted to provide physical supplies such as goods, materials, plant, etc.
Consultants are professionals, typically, appointed by the client to perform expert tasks on a project.
This might include:-
Providing advice on setting up and defining the project.
Developing and co-ordinating the design.
Preparing production information and tender documentation.
Inspecting the work of contractors.
A person whose job involves buying and selling buildings and land, and arranging for new buildings to be built
A tender is a submission made by a prospective supplier in response to an invitation to tender. It makes an offer for the supply of goods or services.
A technical drawing of a landscape architecture that falls within the definition of landscape architecture. Landscape architectural drawings are used by landscape architects and others for a number of purposes: to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal, to communicate ideas and concepts, to convince clients of the merits of a design, to assist a building contractor to construct it based on design intent, as a record of the design and planned development, or to make a record of an area that already exists.
Bill of Quantities also referred to as BOQ, is a document formulated in the construction industry to specify materials, labors, and their cost. It serves as a communication tool between client, consultant & the contractor. It is usually prepared by a cost consultant or a surveyor.
A specification provides information to the contractor about key requirements for construction and detailing. Depending on the procurement route adopted the specification can describe the final product in terms of its quality and workmanship or its future performance.
Workmanship is the degree of skill with which a product is made or a job done. It might also be described as craftsmanship or handiwork.
